IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF HAND-TUFTED RUGS AND CARPETS
Every hand-tufted rug and carpet is unique because it is made by human hand.
Unlike rugs that are mass-produced by machine, our rugs are one-of-a-kind. The
imperfections of natural materials and the variations of the human touch are
what make each item special. A variation might be considered a flaw in a
machine-made product, but these variations are part of the character of a
hand-made rug. Therefore it is not possible, or desirable, to expect exact
uniformity in the construction.
Variations in tip shearing, stitch sizes, shading and other inherent
characteristics are a natural and expected by-product of custom-made carpet.
Also, colors may vary depending on the lighting and the light source in the room
where the rug is placed, as well as light reflection from the shearing patterns.
Points to remember when purchasing hand-tufted rugs and carpets:
1. Weave lines, shear marks, and striations may appear in the carpet or rug.
These are natural irregularities that are inherent characteristics of
hand-tufted carpet and are not to be considered manufacturing defects.
2. Sprouting, tuft pulls, and high tags are not manufacturing defects. These
occurrences will be dealt with on an item-by-item basis. These are normal
characteristics and are not considered manufacturing defects.
3. Shading or watermarking on cut-pile and loop-pile carpets is a normal
occurrence.
4. Shear marks or uneven shearing (random shearing) on loop carpets or
cut-and-loop carpets are inherent characteristics and are not manufacturing
defects.
5. Shedding of loose fiber can occur for several months after the carpet is down
and is not a manufacturing defect.
6. Fading can occur in all carpets and is a result of carpet being exposed to
direct or indirect sunlight. Ozone fading or oxidation can also occur.
